Copenhagen Card: An Easy Way To Explore the City
Copenhagen is not the cheapest city to visit and the public transport system is not the easiest to understand neither. There are many different zones around the town centre and it might be difficult to know which tickets you need to buy (1 zone, 2 zones, 3 zones?)
The Copenhagen Card is the best option that you can get for your next trip to Copenhagen. With it you get access to the whole network of public transports for free, you also get free entry on 100+ plus attractions and finally you get 10% off the price in selected restaurants, tours or bike rentals.
Is The Copenhagen Card For You?
What do you want to do on your trip to Copenhagen? Do you want to visit museums and see plenty of palaces and castles? Or do you prefer to rent a bike and cycle everywhere, exploring the city at your own pace without spending much money?
Depending on your reply, the card might be the right choice for you. Go to the Copenhagen Card site and choose which attractions you want to see, the site will calculate how much you can save by using the card.
We were glad that we opted for the card. Not only we saved money on bus rides (it was raining badly on the second day), we also saved money on the attractions that we wanted to see. Since you can visit a lot of things for free, we also saw more than we planned just because it was free and we had some hours to kill.
How Hard Is It To Get The Card?
Not at all. You choose online which card you need (24, 48, 72 or 120 hours) and make the payment through the site. Then you can choose between getting the card delivered to you (for a small fee) or picking it up from the airport (or other locations around Copenhagen).
We opted to pick it up at the airport and after a short wait of 5 minutes we were chatting with Miguel who activated our cards, explained how to use it (just show the card) and how to get from the airport to our Airbnb flat. Nice and easy!
An Amazing App
The card makes it easy to navigate around Copenhagen. In the app, you can see all the free attractions, all the restaurants and tours that accept the card and give you a discount. You have a map with plenty of dots and you can see what’s close to you.
You don’t even need to be connected to the Internet to use the app and it’s easy to find things to do around Copenhagen. So if you haven’t had enough time to plan an itinerary, you can plan as you go with the app.
Usually, on our travels, we use trip advisor to find how close we are to the Must See places. With the Copenhagen Card app, we barely opened trip advisor.
